This Supreme Court race has gotten real dirty, real quick. With all the dirt being thrown around, only Jennifer Dorow has managed to stay above it all. Sadly, the same cannot be said for her opponents, from both sides.
Because of this, WISN talk show host Mark Belling released two separate columns criticizing the relentless attacks on Jennifer Dorow being waged by the extremists on the Left, and nearly the entire Dan Kelly campaign and its surrogates. Of course, the attacks are being led by Appeals Court Judge Shelly Grogan and Supreme Court Justice Rebecca Bradley.
In several columns of my own, I have made the case that Jennifer Dorow is obviously the frontrunner because rarely do campaigns attack downward. She is clearly the one the Left is afraid of running against, and Dan Kelly knows it. This is why he and his surrogates have been on the war path.
They are upset that Dorow had the audacity to enter the primary late in the campaign. They say it was ‘too late’ for her to enter the race. Let me put that FALSE narrative to rest once and for all. Election law sets very specific parameters and dates. By definition, candidates have until the set deadline to declare candidacy and submit nomination papers. ANYTHING ON OR BEFORE THAT DATE IS CONSIDERED ON TIME.
We all know what this is really about, this is a seat that Kelly and his supporters apparently feel he is entitled to. I have talked about this in several columns. Mark belling has talked about this on the air on Newstalk 1130 and in columns as well.
In a column recently published in the West Bend Daily News, Mark Belling pulled out all stops and it was straight to the point. Unfortunately, it is behind a pay wall, but I do suggest you subscribe to the Daily News, because $10 is a small price to pay to read Belling’s Column. DO IT, TRUST ME:
In the column, he talks about the national liberal PAC that has launched a nearly $1 million ad campaign aimed at taking out Dorow. He also called attention to the interesting fact that it’s before the February 21st primary. Why?
‘Why then is a leftwing PAC spending so much money now? The answer is obvious: They are terrified Dorow can win the general election and want to nuke her out now and run against the far weaker conservative candidate, former Supreme Court Justice Daniel Kelly.’
Belling also said Kelly’s campaign has become one ‘giant temper tantrum from an entitled candidate…’ In the column, he also calls out Appeals Court Judge Shelly Grogan and Supreme Court Justice Rebecca Bradley for ‘foaming at the mouth with relentless attacks on Dorow that are comically misleading.’
‘As for Kelly and his supporters, they are making it clear that if Kelly can’t be on the state’s high court, they won’t tolerate any other conservative serving there either. Their obnoxious campaign against Dorow is dividing conservative voters and wounding Dorow with character assassinations that will have a toll in the general election.’
‘Kelly’s gang resents that Dorow is running at all…Kelly realizes Dorow is more popular than he and is headed to a primary victory unless he literally destroys her. Even if he succeeds, it will be a Pyrrhic victory because the damage from the war Kelly started will leave conservatives the opposite of united.’
Belling went on to compare these actions to the Governor Primary last year, where Kleefisch attacked Michels so badly that he was ‘damaged goods’, even though he decisively won the primary.
Belling’s honesty and criticism was well placed and he even went after the State Republican Party for doing NOTHING to stop Kelly’s war.
Let me be clear, THIS IS KELLY’s WAR, and Dorow has not taken the bait. More proof that Dorow is better suited for the role.
Belling’s column can be summed up with the following quote:
‘The leftists and their media allies need to get rid of Dorow now because if she survives the primary she could very well win the general election. They have no such fears with Kelly, a proven loser bereft of personal charm.’
Once again, please go to West Bend Daily News to Read the whole column. You will thank me for it.
In a 2nd column, Mark belling brings attention to the Childish behavior by Appeals Court Judge Shelly Grogan who just overturned a ruling by Jennifer Dorow and is bragging about it while supporting Dan Kelly. Talk about acting like a spoiled incessant child, and she’s supposed to be a judge?
I have written my own column on how obnoxious Grogan has been acting and that she needs to stop.
Here is Belling’s whole Column from Belling.com:
State Appeals Court Judge Overturns A Judge Dorow Ruling And Then Crows About It While Backing Dan Kelly
By Mark Belling, WISN-AM
In the latest instance of her increasingly unhinged attacks against Supreme Court Candidate Jennifer Dorow, State Appeals Court Judge Shelley Grogan is contacting local attorneys to mock Dorow for having a court ruling overturned on appeal. But here’s the stunning kicker: Grogan herself is the judge who overturned Dorow!
Grogan has been aggressively and increasingly obsessively backing former Justice Daniel Kelly for the Supreme Court. Ever since fellow conservative Dorow got into the same race, Grogan, apparently with Kelly’s blessing, has been attacking Dorow, occasionally with wild and salacious rhetoric. The conduct of Grogan has infuriated many conservatives who want Kelly and Dorow to avoid attacking one another so the conservative candidate who emerges from the February 21 primary election doesn’t come out wounded against presumed liberal nominee Janet Protasawicz.
But Grogan’s stunt this week is stunning, even for someone as over the top as her. Local attorneys have been contacted by Grogan urging them to back Kelly, pointing out a Dorow ruling on an OWI sentence was overturned on appeal. But what Grogan didn’t say is that she is the judge who overturned Dorow.
Did Grogan overturn Dorow just so she could rip her? Is it ethical for an appellate judge to use her own ruling to score political points against another judge? No one really knows because no one can think of another appellate judge who has done it.
When Grogan ran for the appeals court, virtually all conservatives backed her. But she has been a one woman wrecking crew dividing conservatives in the Supreme Court election. Most conservatives think Kelly, who was slaughtered in his last Supreme Court bid, is the weaker of the two conservatives. Kelly’s campaign has been acting as if it is trailing by its incessant mudslinging against Dorow.
State liberals clearly believe Dorow is stronger than Kelly. They are running attack ads against Dorow, but leaving Kelly alone.
The refusal of Kelly to muzzle the toxic Grogan appears to be the latest case of state conservatives doing everything in their power to blow an election
