‘Conservative’ Oconomowoc School Board Breaks ‘NO REFERENDUM’ Campaign Promises in $90 Million Boondoggle Proposal

It’s Winter in Wisconsin and professional referendum hustlers at School Perceptions have just nailed their latest target in their continuing attempt to fleece Wisconsin Taxpayers out of Millions for Liberal causes. Only this time, they are making a 2nd trip to suckle on the Oconomowoc Taxpayer tit.

I was given a copy of the survey by an Oconomowoc taxpayer and of course, the leading questions are designed to get the ‘intended’ result. School Perceptions have their claws in nearly EVERY referendum that has been proposed over the past many years.

Incidentally, there is a very high cost to actually conducting the survey. I am working on getting that number.

‘Exploring’ this referendum goes against campaign promises made by many on the board who ‘vowed’ absolutely no referendums. The fact a referendum is being considered is a slap in the face to the taxpayers who voted them onto the board.

Yes, I know this is merely ‘exploring’ and not in stone…Yet. But, let’s be real, I am all but certain that nearly all, if not all, Referendum proposals where School Perceptions is involved have gone on to a vote.

Just eight short years ago, the Oconomowoc taxpayers passed the $54.9 Million referendum. Now the Oconomowoc School Board is looking for another $90 Million. Are you kidding?

You read that right, $90 Million at a time when taxpayers are dealing with runaway inflation, high gas prices, and climbing interest rates. An incredible cost to bear in a relatively small district. Especially after picking the taxpayer’s pocket eight years ago.

And let’s not forget, $90 Million is the official number they are using to peddle this boondoggle, the real cost will be much more because of the interest and, as I said, rates are climbing. This a little fact that School Perceptions and their ‘Conservative’ cronies on the School Board will try to hide from taxpayers. Just ask Wauwatosa how it’s working out for them.

What makes things worse, is that the Board has done nearly nothing to cut costs in an effort to avoid picking the taxpayer’s pocket. They are still attempting to ‘sell’ the vacant Meadow View School building which seems to be deliberately priced way too high. By design?

Of course, the board created ‘the caveat that it cannot be sold to another school as ‘deed restriction that restricts the property from being used as an educational institution or school for any portion of grades from 4-year-old kindergarten through grade 12.’ Really? In other words, to avoid competition.

Whose side are these supposed ‘Conservatives’ on anyway, the taxpayer, or the teachers union? As far as I can tell, Board member Bill Thiel is the only one against any of this.

Why should the school system be entrusted with even more money when they are not being good stewards of what they already have? I’m sure if they remove the restriction from the Meadow View sale, it would sell quickly and likely eliminate the need for another $90 Million from the taxpayers.

But fear not, in an effort to wash their hands of the referendum boondoggle, the board is having a ‘listening’ session this coming Wednesday evening. The only problem, many taxpayers may not know about the proposed referendum or have a hard copy of the survey.

Apparently, due to a, very convenient, ‘printing error,’ the surveys will not be mailed until Monday, just two days before the ‘listening’ session. Likely a deliberate attempt to keep the crowd small in order to taint the results. I have seen this tactic in other districts in the past.

It’s time for the taxpayers and parents of the Oconomowoc School District to rise up and immediately make their voices heard to stop this boondoggle.

As for the ‘Conservative’ Board members who apparently lied to get elected, shouldn’t they be less interested in going after the Free Speech rights of an Oconomowoc parent and be more interested in protecting Oconomowoc School Taxpayers?

Senator Tammy Baldwin is Vulnerable if She Actually Runs in 2024

Recently, I wrote about Sarah Godlewski being much more visible since Governor Tony Evers appointed her to assume the Wisconsin Secretary of State role after Doug LaFollette ‘suddenly’ resigned. I discussed the possibility that she was preparing to run for Senator Tammy Baldwin’s Senate seat in 2024. Since then, Baldwin has declared that she is indeed running for re-election. While I still do not buy it, let’s assume she is running. This time around, she will be more much vulnerable than ever before.
