During George W Bush’s campaign for reelection in 2004 his campaign team coined the term “soccer moms” to designate the mothers who they were going to specifically target to put President Bush over the finish line and win a second term. The demographics at the time suggested that these stay-at-home moms were super invested in their kids, thus the minivan and shuttling back and forth to soccer practices and would vote in large numbers for a candidate who would make them, and their children feel safe and taken care of. This powerful voting block stood up in numbers and voted for President Bush in that election and became a “bankable” voting block moving forward which strategists would have to cater to. Soccer Moms vote. Mama Bears run for elections and win.
There is something quite remarkable about a mother taking care of her kids, working tirelessly to effect change in their communities and taking the fight to the elites who are trying to brainwash this current generation. However, the main thrust of their efforts until recently has been behind the scenes, whipping up support, going to meetings, doing research, and sharing data points with other parents. It wasn’t until 2020, the “scamdemic” and subsequent lockdowns that Mama Bears truly stood up and decided to get involved. In my childhood there has always been a trusting relationship between mother and teacher, my mother worked at the elementary school I attended. Statistically, most teachers are female and have kids of their own. There has always seemed to be a mutual understanding between both parties, one that said, “I will help and support you as needed, please do a good job of teaching my child.” This relationship was forever damaged as moms all over the nation would walk by the computer screens of their distance-learning children in 2020 and wonder aloud “what in the HECK is that?!?” Those bonds were broken, and the claws are coming out.
In my Western Wisconsin community, there are numerous Mama Bears primed and ready to go for this spring’s election cycle. They are eyeing up school board seats specifically. They’re getting their messages ready, campaign materials printed, speaking to prospective voters, and raising the all-important money they need for their election. During the 2022 election cycle, I had the opportunity on the “Mike is ALWAYS Right” Podcast to interview several candidates and the similarities of why they were running. Mostly these women expressed concern about the school districts being the gateway to the liberal left-supporting, America-hating, Marxist-supporting, climate change-worshipping radical agenda that is currently indoctrinating our children. These mothers who decided to run in 2022, are running again now, even after some of them were defeated last year during election season. The main crux of their decision to run is low test scores with a continued emphasis on social issues that they aren’t comfortable with schools handling.
The so-called “social issues” are one of the main reasons I see many Mama Bears upset and ready to come out from behind the scenes. Issues such as LGBTQ+ indoctrination and CRT are driving them to run. Many of these candidates will freely admit they are not AGAINST the LGBTQ+ communities nor are they saying racism doesn’t happen in America today, but they want the ability to guide their children in those discussions based on their own values and morals at the time of their choosing. Some children are being shown highly graphic and inappropriate books while having lessons on sexuality that most of these Mama Bears see as an agenda by teachers to indoctrinate their kids at an early age. Children are also being taught very young about white privilege and black oppression. Most Mama Bears ask, does my 2nd grader need to know that their teacher is gay? Or does my 8th grader need to look at white students as the oppressors solely based on their skin color? All the while these children cannot read or write at their expected grade level.
Mama Bears are stepping out of the shadows, rolling up their sleeves and going after the people they see as responsible for the attempts to indoctrinate their children, passive school boards that refuse to push academic excellence in face of social justice initiatives. They also view the school board positions as an opportunity to affect multiple generations as they work to plan for how tax revenue is spent in service of the community and what services will be offered to families going forward.
The Mama Bears do have detractors and the pushback is strong. Many on the left simply view parents as an obstacle to the indoctrination of their youngest most mentally pliable victims. The left combined with the vast resources of the teacher’s unions is in direct opposition to the Mama Bears taking an active role because as they see it, parents don’t need a voice in what is taught to children. Teachers and specifically the teacher’s unions see the Mama Bears as a huge threat to the business-as-usual atmosphere they have created where the failing teachers can still have a job, get wage increases for the terrible job they do and still get the summers and winter breaks off. Do not be confused, all teachers are not bad, most of them just want to teach and find an extreme sense of pride and happiness when they can impact a young child’s mind. However, the other type of teachers, given cover by the union, want nothing more than to indoctrinate and turn children into mindless followers of the leftist Marxist agenda.
Spring election primaries in February will be here before you know it. The major questions being asked in many of these school board elections will be, “Are you currently happy with the school district’s performance and policies? If given the opportunity to send your child to a private school, would you? Does the school district and the instruction they provide put your child in a strong position to be successful in the future? Do you feel like your tax dollars are being spent wisely for the return the community is receiving from the school district?” These and many other questions need to be asked internally and then asked of the candidates, do they have a plan? What is their plan to help our kids compete for the jobs of tomorrow? Mama Bears are ready to roar and win this year because they know that their kids’ future hangs in the balance. Vote accordingly.
